Should I put a king down comforter in a queen duvet? I’ve chosen lightweight and told it adds fullness.?

Will queen bedding fit a full sized bed?

However, the only options given are queen/king & I have a full sized bed. I’d prefer a queen sized comforter as opposed to a full anyway, so my primary concern is with the sheets. Also, I’m aware that sometimes comforter sets are listed as full/queen.

They will all fit, I prefer a larger comforter anyway.

How do you turn a daybed into a king-size?

So I have the day bed and the trundle, I just don’t understand how you turn it into the king size. Anyone know how or have a website with instructions? Thanks.
I know you can do it because other than hiding the extra mattress under the bed, thats mainly what the trundle is for. I saw something online when I looked it up but it was just explaining that you can do that, it didn’t say how to.

My day bed trundle pulled straight out from under the bed and then you pulled up and it had these scissor like hinges that moved the trundle bed mattress to the level of the day bed. The only problem was that once you made them level & put the fitted sheet on there was still a crack in the middle which made it uncomfortable for two loving people to sleep on it.

The problem can be solved in one of two ways, a feather bed placed on top of the mattress that is king sized and then you have to use deep pocketed sheets to anchor it down. Or they sell a foam V like piece that fits between the mattresses to make it like one mattress at the bedding & mattress stores.

Should I get a King size comforter for my Queen bed?

I want to order this white down comforter, but I’m a little scared of the size. I have a standard size Queen bed (no deep mattress or anything). The comforter comes in these sizes:

Full/Queen comforter: 86 inches x 86 inches
King comforter: 102 inches x 86 inches

I’m scared the full/queen will be too small, since it fits a full size bed but am scared the king will be too large.

Why are king-sized duvet covers so small?

We just upgraded from a queen bed set to a king bed set. With the queen set we’ve had various comforters and duvet covers through the years, and all draped far enough over the sides to cover the mattress so you couldn’t see the sheets, just the bedskirt. Now with the king bedding the duvet cover isn’t very wide and barely hangs over the sides of the mattress, so now the sheets show and when we’re sleeping in the bed the duvet cover barely covers the side edges. I’ve checked measurements with other covers and they all appear similar.

So, what’s the deal?

It’s a conspiracy by the Duvet Manufacturers of America – we had the same problem and ended up buying another larger one -but it shrank to the same size as the other.

They want to make sure your life is heck trying to stuff the down quilt into a too small duvet and have it bunched up in the corners and it takes 2 people and a 1 hour to make the bed after washing the stupid thing. Eventually you stuff it in the linen closet and go back to quilts like we did.

How do you keep a down comforter from bunching up inside its duvet cover?

Is there an easy way of getting the comforter straight with the duvet cover after it has been bunched up in side of it?

Many duvets come with elastic loops or button holes that you can fasten the covers to. If they don’t already a simple loop of elastic sown to the duvet and a button sown inside the cover should keep things from bunching up.

Queen duvet set on full bed?

Will a queen duvet bedset fit on my full bed if i put a pillow-top on the bed? Will it look really bad? I really want this queen set but I have a full bed so I’m trying to find ways to work around it.

There is only a 6″ difference in the width of a full-size and Queen-size bed so you are talking about only 3″ on each side of the bed for additional overhang. That difference is so slight it isn’t even noticeable. Besides,when it comes to comforters,duvets and bedspreads….the size is usually sold as Full/Queen. Duvet, how to I lay it out on the bed?

I just purchased a duvet set and down comforter. I was wondering how everyone makes their bed? Do you put the buttoned or zippered end at the head or the foot of the bed? Is there a proper way to do it?

Buttons or zipper are typically at the foot of the bed.

One tip I have found extremely useful over the years is to sew strips of ribbon (approx. 3 inches long) on the top inside corners of the duvet and on the comforter. This helps when putting the comforter in duvet.

Turn the duvet inside out and tie the top two corners to the comforter. Then turn the duvet back over the comforter and fluff. An added bonus is this keeps the comforter from shifting around in the duvet. Enjoy your new bedding!

Silk fabric is woven out of very strong and lasting fibers. Silk is soft to the touch and is a great natural, breathable fabric that will last for many washings and become softer in time.

Silk fibers have duel qualities as they keep you warm when it is chilly and also wick away moisture from your body in the heat.

I love silk and would purchase it anytime if given the choice. So, a silk duvet cover is well worth the money. I would, however, use cotton sheets with a high thread count (over 600).

A waterbed sheet that does not fit well can be prone to several problems that will make you feel that the money you just laid out for that new set of sheets was not very well spent.

Now there is a big difference between waterbed sheets that are inexpensive and just plain cheap. Sheets that are just plain cheap are that way for several reasons. As with any consumer product, poorly made waterbed sheets are often made in a way that saves money for the manufacturer. Unfortunately any short term cost savings to the manufacturer can actually be more costly in the long run through lost sales.

The advent of large scale online shopping and big box retailing has created competitive pressures in the market that some producers try to deal with in all the wrong ways. Some manufacturers try to cut costs by using materials that are not as high in quality. Another way to trim production costs is to change manufacturing methods. Still another manufacturing short cut is to reduce the number of quality control steps that might otherwise be used. While these short cuts may seem like the answer and look good on paper, the results can spell disaster in a highly competitive market.

Consumers are getting smarter and the online shopping boom has aided many consumers in becoming even more informed. Consumers have access to more and better information than ever before. Internet shopping provides consumers with the ability to comparison shop without having to leave the comfort of their homes. Gone are the days when consumers had no other choice than to jump the family car and drive from store to store looking for the best deal.

I can shop for waterbed sheets from the comfort of my chair and still in my pajamas. Online shopping allows me to shop on websites that I have come to trust to deliver not just a good price but good quality and service.

Through some trial and error I discovered the pitfalls of buying cheap sheets. If the set of waterbed sheets you buy does not properly fit the mattress, you are more likely to see some problems. Some cheap waterbed sheets will be made with just a little less fabric in order to save money. The corner pockets may not be deep enough or have enough elastic material to fit securely on and under the mattress. Waking up to find that the mattress has slipped off the corners can be more than a little annoying. The stitching may pull out in critical points.

Thread count is a very important determinant of the price of waterbed sheets. The size of the sheets you need is the other. Thread count is the measure of the number of threads per square inch of fabric. There is a big difference between 200 thread count fabric and 400 thread count material. The amount of material needed to make waterbed bedding set for a California king sized waterbed is almost twice that needed for a full sized waterbed.

Higher thread count sheets will feel thicker and tend to hold their shape longer. The tougher fabric holds the stitching more securely and I think they look better coming out of the laundry than less expensive sheets. One hundred percent cotton is still my fabric of choice with a thread count of at least 400. Cotton blend fabric, made from some combination of cotton and a synthetic thread like polyester can provide you with excellent durability and are a good value.

Can I use dryel to clean my queen size down comforter?

I heard about dryel and went to the website. I have been meaning to dry clean my comforter for awhile now, but it’s such a pain.
Does anyone know if the dryel bag used in the kit is big enough to fit a queen size comforter? I don’t want to buy the kit and then find out the bag is too small.

I had a grandmother who tossed hers in the washer & all of the feathers ended up ruined.
I spent over $300 on the comforter, so I don’t want to ruin it.
The tag does say dry clean only, but I am trying to find a way around that since it is a pain and so many items are ruined at the dry cleaners.

don’t dry clean it, wash it. if your washer is not big enough go to a laundramat and take a front loader washing machine. Put it in with less soap than normal about 1/2 cup and cool water. when done put in dryer or hang to dry. dry on lower heat for an hour. it works. i have never had a comforter cleaned in my 45 years of marriage. only washing them. the dryer makes them fluffier when you take them out. just make sure there are no tears in the comforter because you will end with feathers all over the machine. if there are any tears or holes, get them professionally repaired before washing.

How much can I expect it to cost to have my Queen size “Dry Clean Only” comforter dry cleaned?

It is cotton and polyester but has a lot of embroidered detail thus the “dry clean only” label. I NEVER dry clean but this was a fairly expensive comforter and I want to follow the “dry clean only” recommendation – I am SO out of touch with current dry cleaning rates – what should I expect the price range to be?

The site you gave didn’t work. Put a neutral color like taupe, gray, etc. on the walls (check paint swatches). A neutral lamp shade and go to the craft section of walmart and get the beads on the ribbon and hot glue the beads (color of choice) on the lamp shade. Back to your wall, you could do some stripes at the head of the bed. Your bedding, if it’s a striped/ print comforter, find two or three colors to interchange for your sheets and the same with pillows and a blanket throw. Curtains can be a print or a solid (like three panel of the colors you like). If the curtains are going to be too expensive and you have blinds or a shade on the window, use some flat sheets for the curtains. You can even put some sheer curtains around or at the head of your bed. Hope this isn’t too much information, and it’s helpful. Roxanne

i want to buy a comforter from Delias but it says comforter cover and insert. do i buy one or both?

It sounds like they are interchanging the terms “comforter” and “duvet”. Usually a duvet is something you place into a large pillow case type thing to create a comforter look. That way when it gets dirty you only have to clean the cover and not the entire comforter. I would get both if they are affordable that way its easier to keep clean down the road.

Raspberry walls.

what is the best fabric for making a quilt?

I am a beginner making a queen sized quilt for a retirement project. I’d like to start collecting the fabric I need.

Do I need cotton or polyester? It needs to be washable.

This will be a photo quilt, but I will have other fabric in there as well.

Cotton is the best fabric for quilts and the one most often used by professional and artisan quilters. If you want a shrink resistant quilt then a polyester/cotton blend will work, as long as the fabric has more cotton than polyester in the blend. Most quilters prefer pure cotton fabrics, they are softer, look nicer and they are easier to “needle” that is -to work the fine hand quilting stitches. 100% cotton should be washed and pre-shrunk before cutting and sewing using the same method of washing as you will use on the finished quilt. Fabric stores have huge varieties of quilting cottons on every colour, tone, shade, print and pattern imaginable. Don’t use 100% polyester fabrics, they are slippery, difficult to sew and control when cut into small patchwork shapes, and they are difficult to needle when in the quilting stage. Either online or in stores, doesn’t really matter. For my dorm this year I wanted to cover an old comforter (full size) with a cover. My bed this year is a full. But I can’t pay a lot of money. What do you suggest?

You could try Walmart or your local thrift store.. or just go to the fabric store and buy a piece big enough to just throw on top of your bed.

What is the best way to clean a down comforter?

I need to wash the entire thing and dry it. Can i wash it in my washing machine? Does it have to be dry cleaned ? Can it go in the dryer ? or does it have to be hung outside to air dry ? Its a big queen size white down comforter that goes inside a duvet cover, but when i came home my dog got so excited to see me and peed on my bed so now it needs to be washed asap.

I am confused about how to buy sheets for my new waterbed.?

I have been seeing sheet sets specifically for waterbeds with the pockets and others with the poles. A few other people told me I should just buy King size (I have a queen size) sheets and tuck them in. I noticed that the ones specifically for waterbeds are much more expensive, and I cannot find a decent price (I buy my sheets at Wal-Mart for $30ish for the whole bed in a bag). The lowest price I have found is over $100 for just the fitted and flat sheets. Help?

My mom and dad had a waterbed back in the 80s. Basically, waterbed sheets have an attached fitted and flat sheet. It really doesn’t make much sense that they cost so much more than traditional sheet sets…

If you (or if you know someone) who sews, you could just buy 2 king size flat sheets and sew the ends together. That would save a lot of money.

I did a few searches myself…and couldn’t find any waterbed sheets for under $80!

But, if it were me, I would just use a King-sized flat sheet (just tuck that in underneath the bladder of the bed as best you can) then just use a duvet on a down comforter. It would be much easier to keep the bed made (and easier on laundry day). That’s how the Europeans sleep!

A full size comforter will work on an xl twin bed, but it will look more like a bedspread rather than a comforter since the width on the xl twin is shorter. If the length on the sides of the comforter look too long to you, you can put bed risers under the legs of the bed to make it higher. Well I must admit that you are my FIRST stump for the night!! UGH! I so wanted to find those sheets. But no such luck! It looks as though the sheets are only included in the set. Thankfully the colors are easily matched if you just wanted to go with solid.

What color of sheets would look best with a maroon/burgundy comforter?

I just bought the Damask Stripe “Merlot” colored comforter from Linens ‘n Things (similar to maroon), and I also bought the OFF WHITE/CREAM sheets to go with it. But now I am wondering if just the WHITE sheets would look better with it. I am trying to go for more of a contemporary/trendy type of look. I also don’t know which accent colors I should go for.. So basically I am asking: White or Off-White with Maroon bedding.. and which accent colors? Gold? Expresso Brown? Any ideas or personal preferences even would be helpful! Thanks!

I wouldn’t go white, but the cream would be pretty. My set is an eggplant color so dark too. I have a set of Grey that look pretty and also a set of bronze. Gold would also work. Also you may be able to find a Burgundy that a little lighter or darker than your set.

What’s the difference between a full, queen, and double bed?

I’ve been looking for a duvet cover for my double bed, but it seems that bedsheets only come in three sizes: twin, full/queen, and king.

So what gives? Is a full the same size as a queen? If so, where does the double size fit in?

a full size bed is 52inches wide and a queen is 60inches wide. a full comforter will not look good on a queen bed. Although some companies do make a full queen comforter. It is kind of small and I would rather go with a larger size.

I have bought a down comforter recently (the seasons collection ultimate luxury). it has 700 fill power, 760 thread count and the xtreme clean down they used is hypoallergenic. I bought it because i am allergic to a lot of materials and I need a high quality comforter. I have thought of buying a silk comforter but I cannot find it in the major department stores (macys, bedbathbeyond, target etc). I don’t want to purchase online because I want to feel and see the product. I went to a small store to check out a silk comforter. However, I do not trust the small store and the silk comforter they have does not come with a silk cover, but a cotton cover with 250 thread count (too few thead count). My question is whether I am making a correct decision to purchase this particular down comforter since I am allergic to a lot of stuff. If i am wrong, what kind of comforter I should buy and where to purchase it? what is the price range?

If you’re looking to purchase a king size comforter for a full size bed then you’ll be fine. I always purchase a larger size comforter so that it hangs over the sides of the bed. Just don’t try sheets and a bed skirt!

Bed sheet/pillow/etc ideas that are “manly” but still have style?

My boyfriend just bought a nice, new, queen sized full bed set. He hasn’t purchased sheets/pillows/comforter yet, and is leaning towards “all black.” Do you have any ideas or pictures of bedding that would be appealing to both him AND me?
