My Mother and relatives gave me a large frame, full of baby pictures of my husband and of me. They left a blank space in the middle for our baby. I still like looking at it to see the resemblances as my son grows.

Witches brew. It’s a delicious drink you can use either as a drink or as a dessert. I got introduced to it through one of those Halloween sampler recipe cookbooks you find at the check out counter nearly ten years ago and now it’s become a tradition that I have to have it at least once during October as a part of my Halloween. One of my sisters threw a party which she invited me to and asked me to make this for her guests who were all mid-twenties to early thirties and I had folks asking for the recipe so they could make it at home. The basic recipe is

“2 cups apple cider
1 1/2 to 2 cups vanilla ice cream
2 tablespoons honey
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Process cider cider, ice cream, honey, cinnamon and nutmeg in food processor or blender until smooth. Pour into glasses and sprinkle with additional nutmeg. Serve immediately. Make 4 (6-ounce) servings.

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Serving Suggestion: Add a few drops of desired food coloring to ingredients in food processor to make a scary brew.

Lighten Up: To reduce fat, replace vanilla ice cream with reduced-fat or fat-free ice cream or frozen yogurt.”

Don’t use the colors but you can make it so much fun by picking a theme. Know where they are going on the honeymoon? First, most balloons will last all day, and longer… they don’t lose air that quickly. If you’re thinking about any helium in them lasting all day though, that’s a bit different… though they will stay blown up a long time, the helium will dissipate more quickly, probably after a day. The only way to keep them up as high as possible once they begin to come down is to lessen the weight you have on them or attached to them.

If the balloon was perfectly round, it’s possible that a “weather balloon” was used, and they are available online at least. There may be other totally round balloons available at party shops too, and many may be fairly close to round if not blown up fully or if blown up fully, but don’t know about that.

There are many ways to decorate balloons. You can use markers but may have to go over the lines a few times to make them opaque enough.

You can use tapes of various kinds (masking tape, electrical tape, duct tape, etc.). Duct tape is sticky enough that you’d want to place it correctly the first time though, because may not be able to pull it off without popping some very blown up balloons.

You can also “hot glue” onto the balloon’s surface strips or shapes of paper, yarn, or other materials or items, but you must use a LOW TEMP hot glue gun (…a high-temperature hot glue gun could be hot enough to pop the balloon, though you could try extruding some glue then letting it cool a bit before placing on the balloon if that’s all you have).

As for lighting, don’t know how easily you could put a light or lights inside a balloon but at any rate you’d want to use the cool lights like LEDs or mini-Christmas lights (rubber is fairly heat tolerant, but those put out almost no heat at all).

It’s possible that you could even buy a very small LED light (like for a keyring, etc,), turn it on, and drop it into a large balloon before blowing it up… it should last many hours, but you may not be able to control the direction of the light (and the “white” LED’s are often a bit bluish, etc.).

If you’re using helium though, you’d have to consider any weight you added.

Otherwise just placing a wad of xmas mini-lights under the balloon (and hiding them in some way) could work… or you might even be able to string the mini-lights underneath the black tape to hide them, but the light would still be shining into the interior of the balloon.

In colonial times, candle making was an essential annual chore in all households. Home made taper candles were the only source of light for people’s homes, and there were no commercial candles available as there are today. Each household made its own candles, usually once a year. The average household needed around 400 candles a year, so this was a huge job.

Since the candles were made from tallow, or animal fat, this event usually coincided with the autumn slaughter of animals for meat. Tallow could be made from the fat of all farm animals, but that from sheep tallow was the most desirable. Pig tallow had a very bad smell, and was used by people who could not afford either beef or sheep tallow.

The earliest settlers made their candles by the dipping method. A wick of cotton was dipped repeatedly into the melted tallow, with time to cool and harden between dips. This made a taper candle. These home made candles did not burn very well, emitted odors, and the light was poor.

Those who could afford beeswax had candles from that wax. These were generally rolled from sheets of beeswax, and had a sweet honey smell. Beeswax was not very available, it was expensive, and only the very rich could afford to use candles made from it as a daily way of lighting their homes.

Some colonists found that they could make a wax from bayberries, which have a waxy coating. They boiled the berries, and the wax was skimmed from the top. This was a source of pleasant smelling wax, but there were some drawbacks. Huge numbers of berries were needed – about 15 pounds of bayberries were needed to make just one pound of bayberry wax! Since time was often at a premium for colonial women, this was not an efficient way to make candles. Also, the resulting candles were quite soft, and did not keep well in hot weather.

In the late 1700′s, whaling became an important industry in the Eastern part of America, and spermaceti (a waxy substance from the whale’s head) was found to make much better candles. This wax was harder than either tallow, beeswax or bayberry wax. The candles burned longer and brighter, and stood up to summer heat much better. They were quite expensive,

Around the same time, candle makers started to use wooden molds to make candles. This important innovation allowed candles to be made much faster, and the candles were uniformly shaped. Some candle makers would travel around, taking their molds and equipment, and making candles for people. Others set up a candle making business in one location, and sold their candles.

In the early 1800′s paraffin was first made from coal tar, and around 1850, it became commercially viable, when James Young filed a patent to produce it from coal, which was extensively mined in the eastern states. Paraffin was used to make candles of high quality, and along with the new machines that could make 1500 candles an hour, they became inexpensive and widely available.

Although they are no longer the major source of light for our homes, candles have grown in popularity and use in recent times. For many of us, candles are lit to mark celebrations; they symbolize romance, scented ones soothe our senses, and decorative candles accent our homes, where they cast a warm and mysterious glow for us to enjoy.

How To Make a Braided Rug

Although Rubik’s was the inventor of the Rubik’s cube, that doesn’t necessarily mean he perfected the cube. In 1981 a company called Eastsheen began to produce their own version of the “Rubik’s cube.” EastSheen used a different inner mechanism for their puzzles and through a lot of hard work was able to produce a product BETTER than Rubik’s cubes. Eastsheen calls their cubes “Intellectual cubes” since the term Rubik’s cube is obviously copyrighted.

Intellectual cubes are known for their “out of the box” ready to play ability, meaning you could just pick up a brand new EastSheen cube and it would turn great, unlike the Rubik’s brand cubes which require a lubricant and weeks/months of work to break in. Eastsheen is not as well known as the Rubik’s company, which is probably why Rubik’s still has any business whatsoever. From personal experience, anyone who uses an Eastsheen cube prefers it over the Rubik’s and switches to Eastsheen cubes entirely.

There is one notable disadvantage to the Eastsheen cubes however, the distributors of the Eastsheen cubes are mostly located in China or Australia, so anyone wanting to buy an Eastsheen cube for the United States should expect to wait quite a while for your cubes to be delivered. Usual delivery time from a Chinese dealer is anywhere from four to six weeks, of course there are options to pay for expedited shipping which would take anywhere from two weeks to seven days.

So, if you are looking to buy a cube just for fun or you are a seasoned veteran when it comes to the cube, you should always consider EastSheen cubes as an alternative to the Rubik’s brand cube.

Prior to World War II many American homes featured wood and other types of hard surface flooring and area rugs where used as room accents. During the home building boom that followed the end of the war, the use of wall to wall carpeting became very wide spread. Until recently, over seventy percent of American homes had wall to wall carpeting. Area rugs are seeing a renewed popularity and this includes braided area rugs.

Given the cost of replacement, the need to clean it routinely and possible adverse effects on indoor air quality, many homeowners have made a switch back to hard surface flooring. Hard surface flooring like wood and composite materials are much easier to keep clean and sanitary. This is especially important for homeowners who have problems with allergies and other respiratory conditions.

While carpeting can add warmth and comfort to a living space, maintaining the appearance and cleanliness of wall to wall carpet can be difficult over time. Uneven wear patterns, the accumulation of dirt and breakdown of padding materials can make your carpeting look very old well before its time. Ground in dirt and critters like dust mites can be nearly impossible to remove from deep in the carpet.

Some studies suggest that carpet has a wear life of anywhere from three to five years. Braided rugs have had a place in a variety of home decorating plans, from shabby chic, to Early American and country cottage looks.

One of the more unique and beautiful characteristics of braided rugs is color. Makers of early braided rugs might have used whatever fabric or yarn was at hand. The result was a blend or variegation of many colors, often resulting in random patterns. The variegation in color made every rug unique much like patchwork quilts which did not rely on any particular pattern. Variegated rug patterns are perennial favorites among those folks prefer a very traditional look.

Quality braided rugs are easy to care for and just last a very long time with proper cleaning. Unlike woven area rugs, braided rugs can be turned over. Since you are able to reverse the rug, the wear will be more even and this will further extend the life of the rug.

Bill Farley is a well known name in industrial circles. He is the chairman and owner of Farley Industries located in Chicago, Illinois. An avid follower of fitness he has several leading brands to his credit such as the likes of Munsingwear, BVD and the very popular Fruit of the Loom.

His humble beginnings

Bill Farley was born in the town of Pawtucket in Rhode Island. His mother was a factory worker and his father worked as a musician and a mailman. In his early days of struggle, Bill Farley used to earn his living by delivering Sunday newspapers. Later on he switched jobs to work for a toy manufacturer and later as a lifeguard. Farley did his schooling from the Bowdoin College. A proficient scholar as well as an athlete, Farley graduated from college in 1964 with a degree in government. He decided to try his luck in the world by traveling in the United States.

From rags to riches

Like many clichés even this one seems to hold true for Bill Farley – the man literally made it from rags to riches. There used to be a time when he didn’t have enough money to eat. At such times he would earn his living by selling encyclopedias from door to door in Los Angeles. This ad-hoc training in door-to-door selling helped him become a leading sales manager and trainer as time went by. He decided that education would play a key role in shaping his career growth. That’s why in 1966 Bill Farley enrolled in law school at Boston College. He graduated three years later with a J.D. degree. Soon he went on to join the famous NL industries in New York and started working in their mergers and acquisitions department. It was after quite a few years that he was sent to Chicago on transfer for the post of regional manager in charge of NL’s metals division. After having worked with NL industries for a good 6 years, he shifted to Lehman Brothers in 1972, as an associate in corporate finance.

The acquisitions that followed

Bill Farley bought his first ever company – Anaheim Citrus Products in the year 1976 – just 4 years after joining Lehman Brothers. It was during the same year that Farley became a partial owner of the famous Chicago White Sox. Then a year later he acquired Baumfolder, which happened to be a subsidiary of Bell & Howell. During a time span of five years – from 1980 to 1985, Bill Farley managed a series of acquisitions – from companies such as Coal Creek Mining Company, Health Foods, Inc., The NL IndustriesÂ’ Metals Group, and Northwest Industries (which included Fruit of the Loom). His companies were at an all time high during the 1990s – during that time his companies employed more than 50000 people and had a turnover of over 4 billion USD.

The way things stand today

Today Farley has an impressive empire to his credit. He is the proud owner of Farley industries (FI), as well as the CEO of Body Wise International located in Tustin California. Body Wise is a leading marketer of nutritional supplements. Farley incidentally is also the CEO of Unity Group LLC located in Washington D.C. which is a private security force and defense contractor that operates in high risk zones like Indonesia, Iraq and Sudan etc.

His beliefs

Bill Farley has always believed in taking risks. His famous quote says “A willingness to take risk is probably a major reason for my success today. Many people could be as successful as I am, or more so, but for whatever reason they are unable to take steps that appear personally or financially risky.” – just goes to show that Farley has never shied away from taking personal and financial risks. Be it in the series of acquisitions or his steady rise from humble beginnings – everything illustrates his beliefs well. Farley also believes that in general ‘management and owners sink or swim together”. That could be one reason why Farley has always treated his colleagues, subordinates and acquaintances with utmost respect. He involves all employees and partners in decision-making processes. Today Farley rubs shoulders with some of the most rich and famous people of the world.

Is this a good list of candle scents? Best to worst?

I’m planning on making some candles- is this a good list of scent oils to buy? What’s missing? What should I get rid of? I want to have scents that are popular and will sell.

I personally like:
Lilac, French Vanilla, Lavender, White tea/ginger, clean cotton, and citrus or coconut scents. The rest I don’t think I’ve ever had the chance to smell…
Some other cool scents are cinnamon apple, berry scents and things that smell like fresh baked pies.

So far, we have $ 0.625 (62 1/2 cents) in each candle.

Now, for the wicks and scents, how many candles can you make with the $15 of wicks and scents?
You’ll need to find out your unit cost for each wick and each scent, then add it to the $ 0.625 to get the cost of one candle.

Once you have your production cost of materials, decide how much your time on each candle is worth, and add that in. Keep in mind, you also have heat costs, etc.

It sounds like this is a hobby and you’re enjoying it, so don’t get too stressed out about crunching the numbers.
Just watch; if you make a lot of money (several thousands of dollars profit) at this, the IRS will want its share.

Beeswax candle making is one of the most enjoyable of the candle making projects that you could engage in. Beeswax is a soft wax that is wonderful for making both rolled candles and dipped candles. The wax comes in both block and sheet form and is easy to find at any craft store. The nice thing about the sheet beeswax is that it is idea for making candles with young toddlers, as there is no melting the hot wax.

Aside from the beeswax and the wick, there are no other supplies you need, with the exception of an old coffee can and a big pot to bowl water. You will also need a metal spoon for stirring and a candy thermometer. Gather up all your materials before you start.

How to make beeswax candles:

The first thing you need to do is measure the wick the length you would like each candle to be. Double the wick and include a few extra inches.

Place water in a large pot big enough to add the coffee can and place it on the stove to boil. The beeswax will come in a block. Break the block into smaller chucks and place the pieces into the coffee can. Once the water has boiled place the coffee can in the water and turn the heat to medium. Stir the wax constantly while it is melting.

Once the wax has melted take your wick and double it over your fingers. Take the wick and dip it into the melted beeswax. Dip quickly the first time. Raise the wick from the melted wax and allow a few minutes to dry. Then, dip again. Allow a few minutes to allow the candle to drip and cool and then dip for the last time. Hang the candles over a closet bar or place a dowel between two spaces to form an area for drying the candles.

Take the next wick, and dip in the same manner as the first set of candles. Hang this batch and dip another set. By the time you finish dipping all the beeswax sets that you intend to make, than take the very first set that you made and start the process over. You may decide to have different thickness.

After a few hours of cooling, you will have the enjoyment of beautiful beeswax candles, which will fill your home with a wonderful aroma! To store the beeswax candles, simply place the candles in a drawer and close the drawer! There are no special requirements, and they will have the contents in the drawer smelling wonderful.

Tips:

• Once the beeswax has melted, keep the wax on the lowest temperature on the stove as you will continue to work with it and need the wax to be soft.

• Also, place newspaper below the area that you will be hanging your candles from. This will help with cleanup.

• Always keep young children out of the area when working with the hot wax.

What would be the best way to package a yankee candle or candle crock pot for shipping?

I have shipped an entire household worth of breakable china, glass figures, etc. PLUS glass jar candles, cross-country on the Greyhound Bus! Believe you me, I have become an expert at shipping breakables without having them break.

Buy your Yankee or crockpot candle, and find an old clean BATH TOWEL you do not need anymore, or grab a pretty new one as an extra bonus gift for your friend. Fold the bath towel in half lengthwise, so it makes a long thin strip. Lay the candle down on one end of the towel, then roll it up so the the candle is deep inside the towel…when you’ve finished rolling it, seal the towel to itself with a strip of packing tape…it comes off quite easily…or use any other tape that will stick well and not leave residue on the towel.

Now…find yourself a box that has about 2″ to 3″ of space all the way around that towel/candle bundle…you likely are going to wind up with a box that has more room on two sides, less on the other two…make SURE that the two closest sides give you at LEAST 3″ leeway…then fill with tightly wadded newspaper and jam it in there GOOD and tight, so that the candle has NO wobble room at all. If you like, you could substitute packing peanuts, but still you will need to pack them in there real tight so the towel-candle unit cannot move.

Seal the box well with packaging/mailing tape, address your mailing labels, put them on, and with a WIDE TIPPED PERMANENT BLACK MARKER print “FRAGILE PLEASE HANDLE WITH EXTREME CARE” on every side of that box.

Now, take it to your post office, and when mailing it, INSURE IT for the cost of all the contents PLUS a few bucks (to cover the initial cost of mailing). You usually won’t need to cash in that insurance, because your item SHOULD arrive unbroken and totally safe. I did not have ANY breakage in my stuff when I packed it this way. My grandmother and mom taught me to pack glass in towels like that. Works every time for me.

Gel candle making has enjoyed a surge in popularity in the past few years. It is easier than traditional candle making, requiring few ingredients and some simple instructions. The hardest decisions are ones based on personal taste: what kind of container do you want to use, do you want to add color to your gel and what scent do you want to use.

Gel wax has greatly changed the world of candle making. With its transparency the possibilities are limited only by your imagination and the speed with which it sets makes producing large numbers of candles less time consuming than with traditional candles.

Making gel candles uniquely individual is one of the most appealing aspects of the process. The only thing that has to be taken into consideration is that containers must be used, unless of course the time is taken to make unique molds as well.

Gel candles can be made using seashells from vacations, coins from travels around the world, even beer cap collections can be used to make personalized candles. They can be tinted using dyes and scented using fragrant oils.

Materials

Before you begin making the candles you need to assemble your materials. The most expensive part of the process is the gel wax itself. You will need:

• Gel wax
• Glass containers – use your imagination, shot glasses, martini glasses, fish bowls;
• Fragrant oils – if you want to add scent;
• Dye – if you want your candles colored;
• Wick – the length of which is determined by the height of your container; use wax coated wicks for gel candles, not paper wicks.
• Décor for putting in the candle if desired.

You should also have a pot or kettle to melt and pour the gel from. Camping equipment is an excellent place to find a sturdy kettle to use. It will stand up to the repeated heating.

Making Your Candles

First you need to make sure that your containers are very clean and dry. Any residue or foreign materials that remain inside the container can cause your gel wax not to set properly.

You will need to melt you gel; however, you must keep an eye on the gel as it is melting as it can reach its flash point very quickly and be on fire before you know it. Using a thermometer is the best way to insure that you don’t exceed the recommended temperature. Also, do not under any circumstances whatsoever melt the gel in the microwave, it is very dangerous.

If you are going to color your gel you can do this after the gel has melted. Test the color by pouring a small spoon of it on a sheet of white paper, if the color is darker than you want it, add more gel, if it is lighter than you want it, add more dye.

This is also the time to add fragrant oil if you want to make scented candles. Again, add more if you aren’t satisfied with the odor and if it has too much smell add more gel to the mix.

You are now ready to position your wick. The method you use will depend on how precise you want your candles to be. If you are giving them for gifts and don’t want bubbles, you will want to use the pencil method. If you are making them for yourself and don’t mind some bubbles use the easier, hot glue method.

The hot glue method entails using hot glue to secure the wick to the bottom center of the container. As the wax is poured in, it will react with the glue and cause some bubbles.

The pencil method requires filling the container with wax, dipping the wick in the wax, removing the excess wax from the wick and rolling it around a pencil. Position the pencil over the container with the wick in the center and dropping it down into the gel. When the gel cools cut the wick no longer than 1/4 inch.

If you are adding embellishments to your gel candle you should dip them in wax and arrange them in the container before you pour the wax in the container. You should also arrange them closer to the outer edge to make them visible.

What is the best wick to use? Choosing the right wick seems to be the debate among chandlers. Everyone seems to have their own preference of what they consider to be the “right” wick. I have used all types of wicks and have spent a lot of money doing the research. So I’m here to tell you this is the end in researching a ton of wicks…save your money for more important stuff. Now, what we have decided in wicks is with using the recommended wax.

Testing wicks, I would say is the most challenging in candle making. This is usually where some people give up! But please don’t be discouraged. I read thread after thread on various forums and many people would discuss the wicks they were using to what soy wax. For some of the posts, I found it difficult for several of us to have been using the same wick with the same soy wax but receiving different results in terms of burning. Granted, you can receive different results when different variables are involved such as: additives, dye, fragrance percentage, etc. But in the beginning stages of making candles you should not be adding any dye or fragrance oil to your wax until you have a more definitive choice of wick. And this is where we ran into problems. There were a few folks where we were using the same wick, same wax and no additives but we all received different results…how can this be I ask? I came to the conclusion it was impossible and realized that some may have figured out what worked but of course didn’t want to share it because this would allow others to be on the same level. Some would consider it to be a company trade secret.

I have found the Eco series wicks to be the best when making soy candles. I have tried HTP, Hemp and Zinc series. I never recommend using wicks that have a metal core because you will ALWAYS experience mushrooming and poor burning qualities.

Here are some wicks to use:

5 oz. Apothecary – Eco 6

16 oz. Apothecary – Eco 4 or Eco 6 (Double wick)

2 oz. Round Travel Tin – Eco 2

8 oz. Madison – Eco 8 or Eco 10

What can I do when I damage a candle wick?

My wife’s favorite candle is still about ¾ tall but the wick has burned down the center and it now gone. What can I do to “replace” the wick? what material may work in the meantime until I can replace it?

Warm the candle, then carefully circle the candle with a knife, down perhaps a half inch from the top.

You should be able to remove the wax and find the wick.

Okay kids, take a tin of custard powder, open the lid and place it inside a larger tin with a sealable lid. Make a hole in the tin can and place a tube through until it touches the custard inside the tin. Now place a candle inside the tin, quickly seal the lid then blow through the tube: kaboom, the lid should have flown off as the custard ignited.

Science teachers love this kind of experiment; it keeps kids engaged whilst demonstrating some important principles of science. Yet, if a group of kids can make a tin of custard explode, just think of the potential explosive power in factories that use tons of it. Not just custard either, most powdered foodstuffs, such as sugar, spices, flour and even coffee can explode.

Of course there are laws implemented to ensure that risk of explosions are kept to a minimum but how many companies actually follow them? In Britain the EU’s ATEX directive was introduced in 2003 to ensure companies were aware of the risks attached with explosive materials.

Yet, according to industry analysts, many food producers, particularly smaller companies, are wither completely unaware of the risks or are ignoring them.

“If the HSE (Health and Safety Executive) decided to crackdown I think they will find a lot of non-compliance,” said David Mairs, from leading project management company Projen.

Even when companies do take pains to ensure they meet the desired requirements often certain items can get missed, the most common being the computer equipment.

Obviously, computers, monitors and printers are electrical and can spark (particularly in dusty environments where the dust itself can short circuit boards), yet many companies neglect to ensure their IT is approved to use in that area. The most common reason for this neglect is put down to cost.

Obviously replacing all IT systems with intrinsically safe and air-purged machines can be extremely expensive, especially if you are in the habit of upgrading your IT on a regular basis.

However, there are lower priced alternatives. One way is to house all IT equipment into special industrial computer enclosures. These are widely available and can be manufactured in all materials including food-grade stainless steel. They have the advantage of not only preventing any fault in a computer or monitor from setting light to your factory but they also afford protection from knocks, bangs and explosions. They also have the advantage over specialist machines by the fact that enclosures merely house existing equipment which can be replaced and repaired whilst still retaining your original industrial pc enclosure.

While planning the interiors of your house, the focus is mainly on the primary areas like the kitchen, the bathroom and the bedrooms. The framed pictures and the paintings can also be highlighted by the interesting use of lights focussing on them thus creating a very attractive visual effect.

4) Wooden mouldings also go a long way in helping to break away from the monotony of a dull hallway. Mouldings running along the length of the hallway give a creative definition to the place. But, one should ensure that the kind of moulding installed matches with the colour of the paint on the wall or it can result in completely opposite results. Wooden mouldings provide an old-world charm to a space and will provide an elegant look to your hallway.

The kind of interiors you want to give to your hallway must be considered with equal importance as other areas of your house as with the right kind of installations, a simple thing like walking through it can become a pleasure for anyone who visits your home.

Those plant lights, besides being expensive are designed to radiate wavelengths that are necessary and conducive to plant growth. Wavelengths that are found in real sunlight, but not normally in indoor florescent lights. place pieces of paper towel over the wax spot and heat your iron to about medium heat. Press the iron on the paper towel until the wax melts into it. repeat with new paper towels until there is no more wax spot on the towels….then at least the majority of the wax will be out of your carpet

The art of oil candle making is a great way to complement an existing wax candle maker’s repertoire. Also, it is a good starting point for the beginner candle maker to jump into candle making since oil candle making is relatively simple, and does not require special skills other than the drive and passion to make art. Though some may argue that candle making is not an art, they probably haven’t seen oil candles made by exquisite craftsmen.

What makes oil candles different from your traditional wax candles is that instead of the usual paraffin wax, special paraffin oil is used. While wax candles usually stand on their own, oil candles are made in glass jars or bottles, with the occasional brass or stone containers. The wick of the candle is suspended via a glass tube or eyelet and placed in the center of the container. What makes oil candles attractive to consumers is that oil candles burn in a clean and odorless manner, without smoke or residue. These attributes make it perfect for dining table use and for mood lighting.

If you want to start making oil candles, you would need the following supplies: a jar or bottle to place the oil in, some liquid paraffin oil, a funnel, an oil candle wick (as opposed to regular wicks), a thermal glass wick tube (choose the appropriate size for your container), and an adapter adjustment ring (depends on the choice of container). Oil candle making is a simple process that even a child can make one. First thing to do is choose which container you would use for your candle. A glass bottle, jar or stone container, is a good place to start. After choosing, you pour the paraffin oil into the container barely reaching the brim. Place the fiberglass wick into the glass tube, leaving about a quarter inch just above the top of the glass tube. Put the glass tube with wick into the container, making sure that the tube is just below the top of the container used. And you’re done!

If you are feeling especially creative, you can add different decorative items in the oil candle. You can use shells, marbles, beads, and floral glass. You can even use; dried herbs and flowers, some fruit, chili peppers, flower petals or whatever tickles your fancy. As with the decorative items, you can further your creativity by choosing which container to use for your candles; you can go by theme using a flowerpot as a container, with dried petals and flowers as decoration. Or you can you exotic bottles together with even more exotic beads. The sky is the limit and it is best to let your creativity run wild. Think of the candle as a canvas for your vision. Though in the end your vision will be burned up, the fact remains that you are creating more than an illuminating tool, but rather a work of art unique to you. Having a short life span (if you intend to burn the candle) makes it all the more special, pretty much like ice sculptures. But the most important thing to remember is to have fun. Why bother doing anything if you don’t enjoy it right?

I know this sounds bizarre, but it really works. Put it in the freezer for a few hours (maybe overnight). The wax will release from the sides and you should be able to get the rest of the candle out no problem.
