Root Candles

Aromatherapy has long been in practice as an alternative healing technique, though the term itself is relatively new. Practitioners use this treatment, involving the use of volatile plant oils also known as “essential oils”, to improve their moods and relieve stress. Some believe it assists in the healing process as well. Scented aromatherapy candles have become very popular for these reasons and due to the variety available.

Aromatherapy candles are a great gateway for those wanting to experience the positive effects of aromatherapy but have not developed an exacting knowledge of different combinations of essential oils and recipes that are available. Or simply don’t care for the fuss and the details and want a ready-made solution combined with the ambiance that candle light delivers.

Scented candles with aromatherapy properties are commonly used to enhance one’s surroundings during spiritual ceremonies such as prayers or to assist with relaxation during meditation exercises. Of course, romantic and intimate occasions are very well served by such candle-aided enhancements.

Many different scents and aromas have been derived from different essential oils. And many times you’ll find these oils integrated together in an effort to achieve a synergistic effect.

Common essential oil ingredients include eucalyptus, peppermint, lavender, lemongrass, grapefruit, vanilla, peppermint, ginger, citrus, clove, cinnamon, cardamom & ginger, chamomile, rosemary, tangerine, orange, cedar, spruce, eucalyptus and many more.

Aromatherapeutic candles are also available in the various types of candle wax.

Gel wax aromatherapy candles combine the stunning visual qualities of gel wax with the therapeutic and mood setting characteristics of aromatherapy. These look fantastic but do not generally burn as long so there is a trade off.

Soy, bayberry, and palm and other natural wax types are often used for aromatherapy candles, with blended versions of these available as well. The completely natural qualities of these waxes lends themselves to the therapeutic, relaxation, and spiritual purposes of aromatherapy since these natural waxes are devoid of any artificial additives. These also tend to burn longer with a cleaner output and a longer scent throw so they are a superior choice for an aromatherapy candle.

Aromatherapy candles are also available in the classic styles, including votive, pillar, and container so they will cater to those with traditional or contemporary sensibilities. Pillar aromatherapy candles can last upwards of a hundred hours so they are a great choice for thrifty minded candle enthusiasts. Votives are one of the most popular candle variations so this could make a great gift or introductory candle for someone not yet familiar with aromatherapy and its benefits.

Whatever your choice, aromatherapy scented candles offer a great deal of pleasure, relaxation, and potential healing from your candle burning experience.

Mary Candler loves nothing more than to awash herself in the soothing scents and therapies of scented aromatherapy candles.

If I believe in God….?

but follow my own path, in harmony with God, why am I deemed a heathen by others?

I believe in God. I also believe that God gives us all that he does for a reason – so that we can make use of it all. Plants were created for our use. I use plants and roots given to me by God to practice hoodoo and voodoo. I pray to God, as well as other spirits. I light candles and use holy water in my practice. But because I don’t do it in a big church, I am seen as a “sinner” or on the path to hell. Voodoo worships one God – the all powerful creator – just like other religions that are more accepted. But, because our means are different, voodooists are seen as “trouble”.

I am looking for a religious person to please explain to me why this is so – without quoting the bible and feeding me a bunch of the usual rhetoric.

Well Christians will tell you that there is only one way to God and that is to believe in Jesus. I was raised a Christian and still call myself a Christian, but I believe differently than what I used to. I believe that if God is love like the Bible says, and that if God is our Father there is no way He could punish his children eternally. I, as a mother, if my children told me they did not love me would not punish my children for eternity. A parent that would do that would be reported for abuse. If God is supposed to be better than us how could God punish His children eternally. I believe that every religion has some truth to it, and I don’t believe that any religion can claim to know the truth 100%. That would be arrogant. I would not tell you that you are going to hell. You have found God and that is all that really matters right?
