I think you could buy a roll of vinyl, then cut out the picture you want with a stencil. Then spray a light adhesive on the back.

Or, you could just buy these ones from etsy. I don’t know how the original artist would feel about you copying her. Perhaps change the designs around a bit so its your own.

Unless your walls are very textured you should not have a problem. Even if they are you can use small amounts of spray adhesive to keep them attached but this makes it more difficult to remove later on. Personally, I would consider using paint to express your creativity.

Did you ‘book’ the border? That means, after you take it out of the water, you softly ‘fold’ it (zig zags with the glued sides together) and wait several minutes. That activates the glue completely. It should be slimy, not just slick.

Also, it is very easy to over-wipe the wet border, which squeezes the glue out from under, and keeps it from adhering well..

The painted walls should have been fine – I don’t think you need to go back and prime. Since there’s no way to know how much paste is still on the paper, re-wetting it probably won’t help, though. Time to add more adhesive.

CAREFULLY pull down the paper, cleaning any backing/ paper residue from the wall. Purchase a border adhesive (in a tub) and a small sponge roller. Don’t bother re-wetting the paper, the adhesive will do enough of that. Apply the paste, let it ‘set up’ for a few minutes, and smooth it back up. Careful not to rub all the fresh glue out! The remaining glue on the paper in addition to the new border glue should do just fine.

If large chunks of the backing stayed on the walls, you’ll have lumps or dips when you try to re-use that section, so simply cut that length out of the border, and bring two ‘good’ ends/edges together. Like when you started, a clean wall with no scraps of old paper will give you the best finished look.

If you run into a difficult spot just keep re soaking and going back to it. Make sure to Tape and plastic off your floors etc., topped with a drop cloth , arm yourself with a bucket of warm water and plenty of rags. You will definitely need to apply a wall primer before applying any new paint. Remember, patience on the soaking time!If someone happened to use a proper wallpaper primer before they hung this paper, you may get lucky and it will come off easy, that rarely happens! Good luck.

Haven’t done wallpaper in quite a while, but when my youngest was born, I redid a small spare room as a nusery. I wanted to put up a border; but, couldn’t find one that suited me…. or the room (although there were plenty available, at the time.) Anyway, I solved my problem by going to a fabric store, and buying several yards of pink 3″ wide lace. Then, put it up using a glue gun. It worked beautifully, and I got so many compliments on my idea.
So Susan, I don’t know if this will help you…. (It was, after all, a baby’s room I was working on)… but, I figured it wouldn’t do any harm to mention it, in case. Besides, you may be able to find some type of fabric strips to substitute for the lace…. or (depending on how frilly you want the room to be) possibly a different color lace….something besides baby pink, that is !

starch AND glue actually.. i did something similar myself. go by a kitten litter box or something of similar size and put much starch into it and mix with white glue or clear paste (i used elmers white school glue) and dip. they take forever to dry so i recommmend putting them under something that won’t stick.. or hang where there is NO wind. then respray with starch hair spray and spray on apolstry glue.

If paper is pre-pasted(will say on package),soak ONE sheet at a time in warm tub( see recommended time) pick it up gently.lay on table,now fold the top back onto itself about a third of the way down(paste-side to paste-side) do the same with the bottom ,bring it up to almost meet the top,your first piece should be folded where you see very little of the backing.Allow to rest for a few minutes After waiting,hold
paper up to the wall and gently slide the folded top back upright,and place on wall(leave yourself a bit of room at the top and side for movement.once you have top basically where you want it ,gently unfold bottom and place,use your level to make sure it's straight,apply a bit of water and use a rag and squeegee to work out any bubbles(working gradually out to sides and top/bottom from center.Press firmly,but gently.Do the level thing again to make sure,and now you've hung your first sheet.
These aren't easy the first time,but with a bit of patience you can do this.

Angelzwi, I hate wallpaper, period!!!, I would rip it off, and reseal and paint with some bright, great feeling summer or tropical colors, I would even go with a mural , of a western Orange sunset, not to look at darn wallpaper.

Here’s the best way in the world to remove wallpaper… In fact, a user here who is 55 years old and removes wallpaper for a living wrote me to tell me he tried my trick and couldn’t believe how easy it was to remove the wallpaper. He thanked me profusely. So, here’s how to make life easier:
1. Get yourself a scoring tool at your local paint or home hardware store in the wallpaper department. It looks like a rotary pizza cutter with spikes.
2. Run the scoring tool all over the border or wallpaper, every which way.
3. Using a spray bottle (an old windex bottle works great), fill it with blue (it has to be blue) car windshield washer fluid.
4. Spray this all over the border and wait 10 minutes. Don’t skip the waiting time, it’s important!
5. Spray it again and wait 5 minutes.
6. Easily scrape the paper away with a scraper (and I promise, you won’t have to use major muscle… in fact, it will peel away in pretty big pieces.
7. Once all the paper is off, wipe down the wall still using the blue windshield washer liquid to remove the residual glue (there won’t be much

And there you have it… the secret to removing wallpaper with ease! Oh.. and don’t listen to those people who tell you to use fabric softener… It’s a royal pain as it’s really hard to get off the wall after. Don’t believe me? Just go put some on your hands and rub it all over your hands. Then try to rinse it off. Although fabric softener will get your paper off, it will leave you frustrated getting it off and it will also make it harder to apply paint after so that it sticks properly. Save yourself time and trouble and please, try my trick. It really works!
